The Youth Pioneer Society and the French Embassy in Bahrain announced the opening of registration for the first edition of the Green Youth Hackathon, co-organized in partnership with the Bahraini Scientific Center for Sustainable Development Goals, The Collective Hub and the French Company Upgradelle. Fives Services Gulf is a sponsor of the event.
Amira Mahmood, Chairperson of the Youth Pioneer Society, said: “We are pleased to announce the opening of registration for our first Green Youth Hackathon, entitled: Sustainability and Climate Change, which aims to support and develop economically sustainable projects that enhance Goals 12 and 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals. The program aims to bring together a group of entrepreneurs, SDG experts, and social scientists along with youth interested in sustainability.”
Mahmood explained that the hackathon targets youth of both sexes between 18-30 years old. The participants will be divided into work teams with the aim of engaging in a quick and collaborative activity to design a collective entrepreneurship project, where the teams will present their projects to a professional jury that will choose the best innovative and sustainable project.
For His Excellency the French Ambassador Mr. Jérôme Cauchard, “As the French president Emmanuel Macron said in 2017, we have to Make our planet Great Again. This Hackathon aims at supporting innovative, creative and effective sustainable development projects in Bahrain. With the support of the French expertise, this Hackathon will empower youth in Bahrain to take action and to develop high-impact and ambitious projects. I invite all the passionate young in Bahrain to apply: it is a unique opportunity to gain competencies and knowledge while developing socio-environmental high impact projects.”
The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Youth Pioneer Society and the French Embassy invited interested youth in Bahrain to participate to this hackathon by visiting Society’s Instagram (@YouthPioneer) account and the Embassy’s account (@francebahrein) and registering before the date of May 10.
